This group RISO workshop is an intro and overview of RISO printing and our studio. We’ll make collages and drawings to make stencils on our EZ 391 single drum RISO.
We’ll go over
-RISO History
-How to work with colors and textures
-Designing for RISO

This course is an introduction to RISO but it does not give you enough experience to book open studio time and work independently. Please take our RISO Operator Course, book a 1 on 1, or take our RISO Monthly Intensive workshop to gain more experience for independent printing during open studios.
This is a remote group workshop going over how to prepare Digital files for RISO or silkscreening. We will meet via zoom.

-Working with photos (cymk separations)

This is the workshop to take if you have a specific printing project you need help with or you want a more in depth look at how to RISO print for open studio rentals.

MH DUAL DRUM

SINGLE DRUM
This course is a prerequisite for booking open studio time on our MH Dual Drum RISO.
In this course, we’ll cover:
-Overview and differences of the EZ 391 Single Drum, and MH 9450 Dual Drum RISO
-Anatomy of the machines
-How to print by scanner bed and computer
-Common troubleshooting issues
-Changing drum colors
-RISO textures and colors
-Questions and answers
We’ll make sample prints but our focus will be on getting comfortable with safely operating the machine and drums.
This course can be taken as a 1on1 or as a group. Check our homepage for upcoming group workshops.

This course serves as a prerequisite to book open studio time in our RISO lab on both machines.
This is a 4 week class, meeting once a week, Sundays at 11am, 3 hour sessions
We will cover:
Working in layers: digital design and color separation for silkscreening/ RISO
How to operate the RISO Single Drum and Dual Drum machines
Changing drum colors and working with RISO inks
Printing from a computer and scanner bed
How to troubleshoot RISO printer issue
Project development/ planning
Cost:
All ink, prints, masters, and demo materials are included in the class. Students will be required to provide their own paper for their final prints.
$400 for 4 weeks

Drums are not interchangeable between machines!
Master Making
Both machines have network cards for printing straight from a laptop. There is a wireless b/w printer that prints 8.5x11” and 11x17” for analog master printing/ scanning.
There is no additional charge for master making or printing.
