What is RISO Silkscreen?
This is a remote group workshop going over how to prepare digitial files for RISO or silkscreening. We will meet via zoom.
Course will cover
-What design programs options are available to use
(free and paid)
-Color Separating and working in layers
-Halftones and Duotones
-Working with photos (cymk separations)

Learn more about digital screen burning by RISO!
We’ll cover the history of RISO and silkscreening and introduce you to the MiScreen A4 to produce screens direct from computer without emulsion or screen filler.
In minutes, we’ll be silkscreening directly onto t shirts or other apparel, or paper! Bring some stuff you’d like to experiment with printing onto!
Students will get hands on experience in print design, silkscreen setup, and printing.
The price of this class includes the use of 1 screen. If class size allows, additional screens may be rented for use during class to print multiple designs or colors.

Silkscreen onto t shirts or other apparel!
Learn to to setup for professional apparel silkscreening. We’ll burn screens instantly without chemicals or water with the GOCCOPRO 100 digital screen burner by RISO.
This is a small class (offered for 1-4 students at a time) and students will get hands on experience learning to design, setup, and print t shirts and apparel using a 4 color t shirt press, a flash dryer, and a conveyor dryer. We will try different types of fabric inks and discuss curing options and garment care.
Blank shirts will be provided but feel free to bring additional tee shirts or garments to print onto. You may also print t shirt designs on paper or other fabrics.
The price of this class includes the use of 1 screen. If class size allows, additional screens may be rented for use during class to print multiple designs or colors.

This is the workshop to take if you have a specific printing project you need help with or you want a more in depth look at how to silkscreen print for open studio rentals.
We will cover how to use the RISO digital screen burner GOCCOPRO Series QS2536 and stretch and burn screens.

This course serves as a prerequisite to book open studio time in our silkscreening lab.
This is a 4 week class, meeting once a week, Thursdays at 7pm.
The goal of this course is to gain experience and confidence with the variety of silkscreening tools in the studio. We will make several small projects as a group, and then each student will develop and print a final project of their own.
We will cover:
Working in layers: digital design and color seperation for silkscreening/ RISO
Screen burning tools, the MiScreen A4, GOCCOPRO Series 100 and 2536, and photo emulsion
Printing on paper and fabric
Where to get silkscreening supplies locally
Printing tools: 4 arm shirt press, vacuum tables, oversized tables, hinge clamps
Printing techniques: registering multiple colors, color mixing, ink types
Cost:
All demo materials are included in the class. Students will be required to provide their own paper, apparel, and ink for their final projects. They will also need to purchase the screen burns for their final project, rates will vary based on what type and size of screen is made, and how many colors the design is. See our screen making rates
